Well, here are some updates on the pregnancy. Since my initial 8 month picture wasn't the greatest I asked Teddy to take another one for me at 37 wee
ks.
It is so weird because people always comment on how large my stomach is, but when I look at it in the mirror or when I look down I don't feel like it is that large. Then I see it in a picture and wholly moley does that belly look big!!!!! I guess it does look like I am carrying twins!!!!
Anyway the pregnancy is progressing just fine and Teddy and I had a whole month full of birthing classes. First on our list of classes was the Child Preparation Class. It was a two part class that was offered by my OBGYN. My sister Alyssa, who is going to be in the labor room with us, came to the classes too. It was recommended so she would be prepared for what can happen in the room as well. It was actually a lot of fun and Teddy and Alyssa had a great time together. Especially when Teddy and the instructor were practice coaching me on how to push and Teddy started counting to ten in German. It was both hilarious and embarrassing because the instructor didn't particularly care for Teddy's humor. When I apologized she only responded with "there's one in every crowd." And walked away. All in all, the classes were very informative and reassuring.
The second class was a Baby Care Class at the hospital. Teddy and I registered for the this class as sort of a refresher course for me since I haven't been around an infant for a long time. And it was an introduction course for Teddy since he has never really been around infants. This class had a majority of the same information our first class had, but it was not taught the same and I didn't walk away with anymore information than I already had. So, basically it was a bust. When a nurse can't discuss circumcision in room full of new parents because it can be uncomfortable I felt like asking for my money back.
Anyway, the next and last class was a Just for Dads class that Teddy went to. We had discussed him taking a Daddy Boot Camp class because it sounded fun, but his schedule didn't allow it. I was really interested in this class because it really was just for Dads. No Women Allowed is was it said on the registration. From what Teddy told me, the male instructor talked to the men in the class about what to expect in the delivery room, after the baby is born, and how to support their partner before, during and after labor. I guess it is easier for the guys to open up about their fears when their partner isn't sitting right next to them. They even gave them little "tool boxes" that are just for dads. If it hasn't been taken apart already I will take a picture and post it for you to see.
Either way, whatever was discussed must have sunk in for Teddy. We went to the mall later that week and the whole time we walked around he kept telling me that I was doing a good job and that he supported me.
