Life's Little Gifts

As I already mentioned to you, today is Adam's birthday. Now I know this blog is about the negative things that happen to me, but I feel that I need to at least shed some light on the positive things.

Everyone knows that I am getting married on 10/24/09, so my life is going to change dramatically. But for the better!!!!!!! Every so often, little gifts are given to me to remind me of how lucky I am and what I am about to receive, and this is one of them.

When I was growing up, every year on my birthday my mom and my sister would come into my room with a chocolate chip muffin with a lit birthday candle and a present. They both would sing me Happy Birthday and then I got to open my gift. And would always be a new outfit to wear to school that day. It was always so exiciting. Anyone who knows my mom, knows that she does very well with picking out clothes for me. I am always satisfied. And when my sister was too excited to wait for me to open my gift from her, she would give it to me that morning also.

So I did the same thing for Adam this morning. I came into the room with a blueberry muffin and a lit birthday candle and a present. I sang him Happy Birthday and then he opened his present. It was a new blue polo for him to wear to work.

The reason this meant so much to me, is that now I get to carry on some of my family traditions. Sometimes people take advantage of what they have and they seldom acknowledge the little gifts that come along the way to remind them of what they have. This was a special time for me to spend with my mom and my sister. And it was also a special time for Adam and I.

I am so excited to keep this tradition going. I love it, and other than being woken up at 5:30 in the morning on his birthday, Adam loved it also.

Safeway, Walmart, and Hookers

Last night I went to The Vine for the weekly family get together. It was a lot of fun. Adam's sister and cousin came and also another one of my cousins came. It was really nice to have everyone there. I am not sure if I ever mentioned this, but Wednesday is $1 beer night at The Vine, so we usually have about 3 or 4 beers with dinner or while we are hanging out.

So last night we were all hanging out and I left to go and get some clothes to go stay at Adam's house. Today is his birthday and I had a surprise planned for this morning. I am going to talk to about that in another blog. So I changed into my pajamas at my dad's and stopped at Safeway to get a couple things for this morning. Apparently, Safeway closes around midnight. I didn't know that so I am standing in front of the doors waiting for them to open in my pajamas at midnight!!!!! After walking in front of both doors with no luck, I walked back to my car and drove to Walmart.

The good thing about Walmart, you can always role out of bed and walk into the store knowing that you are going to look better than at least one person in that store. No one if looked twice at the fact that I was wearing pajamas with moons and stars.

Once I was finished at Walmart I headed to Adams. When I was driving down Baseline, I saw what looked to be a hooker. She was wearing a short, short gold skirt and a white halter top. It is clearly an assumption, but she was at a bus stop!!!!!!

All of this occured between 12 -12:30 a.m. I very busy evening/morning.

Hubcaps and Parking Spaces

Here is the background on my car. I drive a 2000, Silver, Plymouth Neon. This if my first and only car, that I have had since I was 18. I will admit that I haven't taken the best care of the car over the years. But now that I am trying to save for a wedding, I can't risk my car breaking down or having to get a new one becauase I didn't take care of it. If my car goes caput, I don't get a wedding!!!! Needless to say, I am taking better care of it.

Now, my car didn't come with rims. I got the basic option when I bought the car. Looking back, I think I was screwed. In any case, this is an important part of the story, my original hubcaps broke, so I bought new ones at Checker Auto. And these were really cheesey!!!!! They were fake crome!!!! How hilarious is that? They were just shiney plastic......ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Well over the years, those hubcaps actually fell off when I was driving. Each time I believe I was on the phone with my friend Lizzie. A few months ago, I had two hubcaps left. One on the front right tire, and one on the rear left tire. So I decided to just take them off. Which is more ghetto? A car with no hubcaps or only two on either side of the car.

Now to the point of the story........

This week one the attorneys is on vacation. He has a covered parking spot here at work and he is letting me use it this week. Now, I didn't park there yesterday because I wasn't sure if the security guard knew about it. I didn't want to take the risk of getting toed.

In any case, I parked there today and everything was all good. I even prepared another attorney that I parked next to him. I am not sure why, I think I was trying to get the fact that I didn't have hubcaps out in the open and all the laughs and jokes would be out of the way first thing in the morning. Well a few hours later another attorney said he was going out to get a drink and would be back. All four attorneys park in the same row. This last attorney, is the last parking spot of our row.

When he returned to the office, he came up to me and said "Stacey, there is a crappy car parked in -------'s spot." I just looked at him, and replied "ummmm...that is my car!!!!" His face turned bright red and he was like "are you serious?" "yes, the neon?" After a few minutes of laughing and playful bantering, he finally replied with "Stacey, it doesn't have hubcaps!"

So, I still don't know the answer......which is worse, no hubcaps or a car with two hubcaps on either side?

Wooden Shoes, Floors, and Bad Jokes

Last night I was at dinner with the fam at The Vine, for the weekly after bowling dinner. When everyone started to give me a hard time about wanting to see what my dad got my sister for her birthday. Then they all joked that everyone would see it on Friday when they all hang out during the day, because they don't work on Friday's, and I would just have to wait until I could "find time" to see her present. So I pretended to get mad and stormed out of the restaurant. Apparently, I was really loud and everyone looked at me when I walked out and they thought I was really mad. Even though I was smiling when I was walking.

When I came back in they were all giving me a hard time, and I told them I was wearing wood shoes and there are wood floors so it is going to be loud no matter how I walked.

So I had two "incidents" last night; 1) I shouldn't wear wooden shoes to The Vine, and 2) I can't joke around anymore, it embarrasses people.......

Ripped Pants and Firefighters

So I spent the night at Adam’s last week and when I woke up this morning my phone was on his side of the bed, so I told him to hand me my phone and he hit dismiss on my alarm instead of hitting snooze and I guess I snapped at him so he said that I was being mean.

Then I take a shower and realize that I don’t have a hair dryer or anything to do my hair. So I use Lauren’s which overheats with only half of my hair done, so I could’t use it anymore. During that the hairdryer got my necklace so hot that it was burning me, and I could’t get it off because of my nails, so I had to break the chain. Adam saw this and got mad at me. Mind you, this is the same necklace that Adam and I are supposed to wear but he doesn't wear his because he doesn't "have time" to get a new chain. The current one he has turns his neck green.

Then I go to put my makeup on and I only have foundation. So my hair is frizzy and I don’t have any make-up.

I have been eating oatmeal at work and I guess that left a packet of oatmeal in my purse and the paper to the oatmeal packet was thin and flimsy. So when I went to get my keys I poked a whole it in and a puff of oatmeal went all over my purse and my clothes. So I got mad and cursed and then Adam snapped at me and said I “need to relax” and then I left.

Then at work, one of the attorneys told me that there were fire fighters in the lobby. Which if anyone knows me, they know that I love men in uniform. So I go out in the hall way and they are actually helping this lady. So I felt bad and didn't even look at them, so I don't know if they were cute or not. But when I go to the bathroom I notice that the seem of the my pants is coming undone. Now I have walk past the firefighters again knowing that my pants are ripping.

Later that morning I talk to my sister and explain to her about the day that I was having and she said that there is no way that it could get worse. So I go about my day and I figure out that the seem of my pants isn't ripping, a part of the pants is just fraying. Which isn't so bad, but I can't wear those pants anymore. So my day started to get a little better.

Then that night I met my family at The Vine for the weekly after bowling beer and wings. It started out great, we were all talking about my wedding plans and then my sister and I got in a big fight.....and made my day even worse after she said that i couldn't.

And that is the "Ripped Pants and Firefighters Incident."

However, this has a moral to it....I should not be spending the night at Adam's house. I was being punished!!!!!!!!

Dairy Queen

So about four years ago....it was actually the October before I turned 21, I went down to Rocky Point, Mexico with Alyssa, Any and some of their friends. Apposed to popular belief, I didn't have a single thing to drink that weekend. I was really nervous about being in Mexico, as it was my first time there. So I figured that I should be sober in case an "incident" would happen.

So the day before we are going to leave, Alyssa, Andy, me, our friends Tim, and Sache all went to the Fish Market so that I could get these plastic hanging fish. Well we were trying to park the car, I was driving, and I went to turn down this road when another car came and cut me off. We both slapped on our breaks and we didn't hit each other, so we went on our way and parked up the street.

Well everyone was walking down the street, while I staid back for a second to check that all the car doors were locked, when a Federally came up yelling at me in Spanish. Mind you he was eating pork grinds and drinking Orchata. Both of which smell disgusting to me. So he made me open all the car doors and my trunk to see if I had anything in there, which I didn't. My Spanish isn't the best, but I can catch a few words here and there. So he said to me you caused an accident, and I told him no I didn't. Then he said I was going to jail.

When I heard that I yelled to my sister that they were taking me to jail and she came running up the street yelling at him. The next thing we know, he is telling us that we are all going to jail and makes us sit on the corner and wait for another Federally to show up. About 30 minutes later, he finally accepted $50 from me and we were free to go. I went and got the hanging fish and went back to the beach house.

I was so scared he literally scared the crap out of me. I was in the bathroom all night. And then on our way home, we drove through Gila Bend and my stomach still wasn't feeling that good. So Alyssa and Andy stopped at the Dairy Queen to get ice cream and I used the bathroom, which was outside and looked like an outhouse. The worst part.....you had to have a key to get in so other people were waiting for me to get out of the bathroom so they could use the bathroom...

And that is the "Dairy Queen Incident."

Introduction

Well the reason I started this blog is because a lot of bad things happen to me. And this past weekend Adam, Alyssa, Lauren (Adam's Sister), and I all went to San Diego for the 4th of July. During the road trip almost all of my stories included an "incident." Whether it be the incident at the Dairy Queen in Gila Bend four years ago, or an "incident" last week involving ripped pants and a lobby full of fire fighters. So Alyssa suggested that I start a blog to share all of my "incidents" with you.

Some might say that I am dwelling on the negative things in my life; however, I choose to look at is as, I am making people laugh at the bad things that happen to me or educating them on something that they might not have known about before. So that to me is a positive.

Other than the two that I mentioned above, I will only post "incidents" that have happened that day or week. So check often, as I sometimes have eventful days and some are worse than others.
