I'm Back In Full Force...

Yesterday marked my one year anniversary of not blogging.  I am not sure what the cause of that was.  I even added the BlogSpot app to my phone, but alas, it didn't matter.

Nonetheless, I am back at it.  For my first post, I wanted to write about something that happened to me just today. It starts with the Skate Land story that everyone has heard so I am not going to go into a lot of detail.  On July 27th, I fell while roller-skating and fractured my radial head in my right elbow.  No surgery was necessary, but I have been in Physical Therapy ever since.

Yesterday, my Doctor finally released me from his care and said I need to finish my PT and then move on with life.  He didn't say that specifically, but that it was I took from it.  I was told that my arm would never fully extend, but who really extends their arms out anyway?  Well, it is a good thing I am not an athlete because I can't even throw a ball.

Now, let me get to today's post/incident.  O is on fall break, and Teddy (yes, I still refer to him as that) took the week off to spend quality Daddy/Daughter time.  Teddy called me and asked to meet them at the park after I got off work, which was very exciting because it has been so nice out.

When I get to the park O runs up and tells me they have been flying her kite.  It is a cheap one that she got from a kids meal at Chik-fil-A, but it looked fun.  I am 30 1/2 year's old and I don't ever remember flying a kite...EVER.  So I thought it would be fun to take it for a spin.

O was so supportive and was showing me how to do it.  When the kite would get off the ground, she would clap and say "There you go Mom.  There you go." It was super cute as that is what Teddy and I say to her.

With O's support and the wind picking up nicely, I was focused and in "kite mode."  That is what I am calling it since I wasn't focusing on anything else.  I am running and looking up at the kite in pure bliss (imagine slow motion like they show in the movies) and then it happened....

My knees hit the ground; I turn my head in just enough time to put my hands out to brace myself (remember that is what got me in trouble at the roller-rink); I go down hard and I let out a loud grunt; I hear O behind me "OOOOOHHHHHH KKKKNNNNOOOOWWWW MMMMOOOOMMMMMMMYYYYYY, Are you ok?"; I roll over and pull down my shirt (which was probably pushed up when my knees actually made contact with my stomach when I hit the ground); then I notice that I have ants all over my legs, due to the fact that I fell right on an ant hill; I try to get up but my elbow and my right knee are hurting so bad.

Olivia made her way over and was trying to help me.  I look at Teddy expecting to see him running over to help his hurt wife.....nope, he didn't even know it happened.  He was responding to a work e-mail.  So I asked O to run over and tell him I got hurt and to come help me.  When I showed him my knee he reprimanded me and said that, again, I am not allowed to do extreme sports.  I replied that this was kite flying, not really extreme.

When I showed them  my knee, O said "Oh mommy, let's go home and put some ice on it."  Sometimes she really is the sweetest thing in the world.  Teddy said "I can't let you do anything."

Here is the picture of the infamous hill...it doesn't look big in this picture, but I assure you it was HUGE.

See, if you look carefully you can see the incline of the hill.  Saboteur.....

This next photo shows the damage....it hurt really bad....
